BYD India has introduced the country's first electric multi-purpose vehicle (MPV), the eMax 7, in 6 and 7 seater configurations. The new model, available at a starting price of INR 26.9 lakh (ex-showroom), follows the BYD e6 and incorporates the company’s latest electric powertrain technology, the 8-in-1 electric powertrain from the e-platform 3.0.
The eMAX 7 offers two variants: Superior, with a 71.8 kWh battery and a range of 530 km, and Premium, which features a 55.4 kWh battery and a 420 km range (NEDC tested). Both variants deliver competitive acceleration, with the Superior model reaching 0-100 km/h in 8.6 seconds, while the Premium variant does so in 10.1 seconds. The MPV's 2,800 mm wheelbase positions it among the top in its segment for spaciousness.
Technology and Features
The eMax 7 is equipped with BYD’s Blade Battery, known for its enhanced safety and efficiency. The vehicle also comes with advanced safety features, including six airbags, ABS, EBD, and a suite of driver assistance systems. The VTOL (Vehicle-to-Load) function enables external power usage, making the MPV versatile for outdoor activities.
Exterior & Interior
On the outside, the BYD eMax 7 gets the Crystal Diamond Floating LED headlights and speedy dynamic wheel hub with 17-Inch alloy wheels. Inside, the cabin of the BYD eMAX 7 offers Black and Brown two-tone interior.
The eMax 7 also offers a 12.8-inch rotatable infotainment display, a wireless phone charger, ventilated front seats, and a panoramic glass roof. The third row can be folded to create 580 litre of cargo space, while split middle-row seats provide additional storage flexibility. In addition, the vehicle also hosts advanced convenience features like voice assistance, keyless entry, NFC card key, electric trunk opening, PM 2.5 filtration system, one touch up-down with anti-pinch for all 4-door windows and automatic air conditioning.
