Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) has introduced the Creta Electric at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, marking its entry into India's expanding electric compact SUV market. The Creta Electric is available in six variants, with prices starting at Rs 17.99 lakh for the Executive variant equipped with a 42kWh battery pack.

Hyundai Creta Electric Variants, Features & Prices

The Creta Electric offers two battery options across its six variants. It gets a 42kWh Battery Pack in the Executive variant starting at Rs 17.99 lakh. The Smart variant starts at Rs 18.99 lakh. The Smart (O) variant is for Rs 19.49 lakh while the Premium starts at Rs 19.99 lakh. Models with the larger 51.4kWh Battery Pack (Long Range) have the Smart (O) model for Rs 21.49 lakh, and the Excellence at Rs 23.49 lakh.

The Creta Electric features a contemporary design with aerodynamic elements such as active air flaps and R17 Aero Alloy Wheels. The interior boasts dual-tone finishes, a 10.25-inch digital infotainment screen, eco-friendly seat materials, an eight-way powered driver’s seat, voice-enabled panoramic sunroof, and dual-zone climate control.

Performance, Charging, Safety Options

The SUV delivers notable performance metrics. The 51.4kWh Variant gets a power output of 126kW which is around 170 BHP with rapid acceleration of 0-100 km/h in 7.9 seconds. It gets a respectable range of up to 473 km. The 42kWh Variant has a Power output of  99kW or 133 BHP with a range of up to 390 km. Charging options include an 11kW AC charger that achieves a full charge in approximately 4 hours and a 100kW DC charger capable of reaching 80 percent  charge in 39 minutes.

The Creta Electric is equipped with Hyundai’s Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), offering over 19 safety functions, including lane-keeping assist and forward collision warning. Additional safety features comprise six airbags and electronic parking brakes.

Technology Transfer from Ioniq 5

The Creta Electric benefits from technological advancements initially introduced in Hyundai's Ioniq 5. Notably, it incorporates Active Air Flap technology, which optimizes aerodynamics by adjusting airflow based on driving conditions. The vehicle also features a three-spoke steering wheel and a steering-mounted column shifter, both reminiscent of the Ioniq 5's design. Additionally, the Creta Electric includes an 8-speaker Bose stereo sound system, providing an immersive audio experience similar to that of the Ioniq 5.

Market Competition

The Creta Electric enters a competitive landscape alongside models such as:

MG ZS EV: Priced from Rs 18.98 lakh, featuring a 50.3kWh battery with a claimed range of 461 km.
Tata Curvv EV: Priced between Rs 17.49 lakh and Rs 21.99 lakh, available with 45kWh and 55kWh battery options, offering ranges of 430 km and 502 km, respectively.
Maruti Suzuki e Vitara: Expected to launch in March 2025 after being unveiled earlier in the day, with anticipated pricing similar to the Creta Electric and Tata Curvv EV.
Mahindra BE 6: Starting at Rs 18.90 lakh, with a 59kWh battery pack offering a range of over 500 km.
MG Windsor EV: Priced from Rs 13.50 lakh, equipped with a 38kWh battery pack, delivering a range of 350 km.

The launch of the Creta Electric underscores Hyundai's commitment to sustainable mobility in India. By integrating advanced technologies from the Ioniq 5, the Creta Electric offers consumers a feature-rich and efficient electric SUV, poised to compete effectively in the burgeoning EV market. This is just the beginning as an onslaught of electric models are expected to be launched by Hyundai and also its sister company Kia.
