Gogoro Redefines Smart Scooter Control With Apple Wallet Integration

Gogoro Inc. has introduced a feature, "Scooter Key in Apple Wallet," allowing Smartscooter riders in Taiwan to manage their vehicles with a simple tap on their iPhone or Apple Watch.

This new functionality enables Smartscooter owners to add their scooter key to Apple Wallet directly through the Gogoro iOS app. By leveraging the NFC-enabled reader on the scooter, riders can lock, unlock, and start their vehicles, creating a hassle-free and contactless experience. This procedure is further streamlined by the Express Mode, which does not require unlocking or waking the device before use.

Horace Luke, founder and CEO of Gogoro, stated, “We believe that revolutionary technology can have a positive impact on culture. Scooter Key in Apple Wallet delivers enhanced convenience to our new and existing customers, and we are excited to roll it out to our vehicles starting today. This feature will not only be available with our latest lineup of Smartscooters, but more than 300,000 of our existing Smartscooter customers will also be able to enjoy Scooter Key in Apple Wallet.”

Once added, the scooter key is stored on the device, taking full advantage of the privacy and security features embedded in the iPhone and Apple Watch. Users can also share their scooter key with other iOS users through popular messaging apps such as Messages, LINE, or WeChat directly from Apple Wallet.

Gogoro intends to connect with the Apple Find My Network, enabling owners of smart scooters to find their vehicles using the Find My app. This integration will be initially available on specific new Smartscooters, including the Gogoro CrossOver S, with future plans to extend it across the entire Gogoro portfolio.

The Scooter Key in Apple Wallet, which offers both technological innovation and a dedication to user convenience and privacy, is a major step towards improving the everyday lives of Smartscooter riders.
