India Bike Week Concludes, The Indian Bikerhood Coming Together After 3 Years

India Bike Week in association with Petronas Sprinta witnessed an exhilarating 2022 edition with attendance running at a maximum capacity of 10,000 pax per day. Participants from across the country rode down to Goa to celebrate their shared love for motorcycling. 

Day two welcomed riders to experience a host of uniquely curated events ranging from music to motorsports. While the IBW Track Masters Nelly & Vishak educated the participants on the basics of track events. Shardul Shas Sharma - the first Indian to compete at the Red Bull Romaniacs shared his experiences and technical tips from Raid de Himalayas, the Indian National Rallying Championship, and the Sjoba Rally. 

“One’s love for motorcycles and motorcycling transcends their age, gender, background. The India Bike Week is the perfect platform to witness this and in its 8th edition, the festival celebrated the undying passion for riding after a gap of 3 long years. We thank our partners for their unconditional support year-on-year and we promise to come back even bigger and better next year,” said Martin Da Costa, Festival Director, India Bike Week.

The motorcycles were launched such as the Himalayan 822 launch by Auto Engina, Harley-Davidson's Nightster Showcase, the preview of the BMW S 1000 RR, and KTM launched their new power wear along with the KTM RC Cup announcement. Also, brand Maruti Suzuki tested all grip tech at the track. Axor launched their new range of off-roading helmets, ORXA showcased the new MANTIS and CEAT previewed their dual-purpose tyres.

Motorcycling communities from different parts of the country gathered at the Jameson Connects Howling Dog Bar to share riding stories and experiences. Notable names included Murtaza Junaid, Yogi Chabaria and Marco Rosetto Founder Mini GP India. Shirshendu Banerjee (Shandy), International Award Winning podcaster on motorcycling - The Biker Radio Rodcast conducted a live recording for his show at the venue, speaking to iconic personalities including ANAND DHARMARAJ from The Indimotard Adventures, Jaspreet Singh Bhatia from Carberry Motorcycles, Dream Engines and Shardul and Rongom Mukerji from The One Man Army behind The Valley Run at the Rodcast Tent. The customisation enthusiasts got a chance to view the amazing superbike collection by JS Films at the Collectors' Corner and be part of the fan meet. 

India Bike Week 2022 and Petronas Sprinta hosted the leading women bikers Urvashi Patole, Sameera Dahiya, Kalyani Potekar - Kalaivani and Divya Sandhu. In a session at Petronas Sprinta Big Trip moderated by Maral Yazarloo Pattrick, these women shared their unique biking experiences, recent rides, myths about women bikers and the future of women bikers in the country. 

For all the motorsports enthusiasts, this edition of IBW had five tracks and races Flat Track, Hill Climb, Mud Rush, All Grip Track and Dirt Dash. There were special sessions on both the days by Vishakh from BAR Amy and Nelly from ProDirt Adventure, Motofarm & FMAE Motopark. Training sessions were conducted to master the gnarly hill trail and 3 other tracks – Adventure Track, Flow track and the Dirt Dash for Moto Cross and dirt enthusiasts. Final rides were conducted on day two and winners were awarded trophies, certificates, cash prizes and exciting motoring accessories 

With that, India Bike Week 2022 drew to a close. By perfectly encapsulating the spirit of motorcycling that Asia’s largest biking festival has always stood for, IBW 2022 has set an extremely strong precedent of what the future holds for India’s superlative motorcycle extravaganza. Next IBW will be conducted first December, 2023.
