KANAKIA Group Announced As The Principal Sponsor For SCOTT Racing Development
SCOTT Sports India has roped in Mumbai’s leading theme developer, Kanakia Group for its first-ever road racing team, SCOTT Racing Development.
SCOTT Sports India announced its plan to launch SCOTT Racing Development last year to promote the sport in the country as well as developing a grassroots development structure. Globally, SCOTT Sports has an illustrious history with the sport, including supporting teams like Mitchelton-Scott, as well as Olympic medallist Nino Schurter.

We’re excited about this partnership which is aimed at improving the standard of Indian cycling, providing opportunities to race internationally and more importantly to develop the sport at a grassroots level in India. The right infrastructure provides people avenues and tools to pursue sports or lead an active life. We at a group level are strong believers of these elements and wish to promote the same.”
Under the project Kanakia SCOTT Racing Development, the focus will be on both physical and tactical aspects. While the physical emphasis would be on effective training as well as improvement of technique, tactical would focus on developing a race strategy and adapting to conditions. In addition, the riders will be guided on understanding performance data to help manage their training and results.

The lack of a structured, team-oriented training programme and corporate support has acted as a barrier for the growth of the sport. The team will provide riders with the full range of necessary equipment for an elite cyclist as well as complete training under the guidance of Nigel Smith, Head Coach, Kanakia SCOTT Racing Development Team. The team will be based in Nashik, where they will train full-time as they prepare to participate in 8-10 races in India as well as 2-3 international races.
