The Mercedes-Benz EQS 580 4Matic has been introduced in India for Rs. 1.55 crore ex-showroom. The new Mercedes-Benz EQS 580 4Matic is the company's first electric vehicle to be built entirely from the ground up (CKD), and it is currently being domestically produced in India at the Chakan facility of the German manufacturer.
The third electric vehicle from the manufacturer in our market, it sits between the Mercedes-Benz EQC SUV and the Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 4Matic flagship EV. The Mercedes-Benz EQB electric SUV, the company's fourth product, which will reach our shores in November of this year, will soon join it.
A 107.8 kWh lithium-ion battery pack and two electric motors that crank out a combined 523 horsepower and 856 Nm of maximum torque power the Mercedes-Benz EQS 580 4Matic. The electric vehicle can accelerate from 0 to 100 kilometres per hour in 4.3 seconds and has a top speed of 210 kilometres per hour. Its ARAI range is 857 kilometres.
In actuality, the Mercedes-Benz EQS 580 4Matix has an EV range that is now the highest in India. The 22-kW charger is an option; the 11-kW charger is standard equipment in the vehicle. Using a 110 kW DC fast charger, the EQS can be charged from 10 per cent to 80 per cent in 35 minutes, whereas a complete top-up from a 240-volt household wall charger will take 10 hours.
On the first 500 units, Mercedes-Benz will also include the Airmatic air suspension as standard equipment, which is a blessing in our congested traffic because it improves the ride quality of the vehicle and lifts it automatically to prevent scraping its belly. Rear-wheel steering with a 10-degree range of motion is also available, giving the EQS a 10.9-meter turning radius.
The Mercedes-Benz EQS 580 4Matic has a five-star rating from Euro NCAP, which should go without saying. Additionally, it has ADAS capabilities like active lane-keeping assistance, active steering assistance, active blind spot assistance, and active emergency stop assistance.
The EQS 580 4Matic doesn't have the same aggressive design as the AMG version of the vehicle. Instead of the AMG version's horizontal slats, the front blanked-out grille has tiny lit three-pointed stars. The front and rear bumpers have been modified somewhat and are now less angular.
Furthermore, the brand-new Mercedes-Benz EQS 580 4Matic weighs 2585 kg and has a drag coefficient of 0.2 Cd. It comes equipped with two 20-inch alloy wheels. The new Mercedes-Benz EQS 580 4MATIC features dimensions of 5216 mm in length, 1926 mm in width, 1512 mm in height, 3210 mm in wheelbase, and 610 litres in boot capacity.
In the Mercedes-Benz EQS 580 4Matic+, the 56-inch MBUX Hyperscreen commands attention. Three screens are hidden under a glass cover and appear to blend into one. The screen offers zero-layer functionality, which places the most crucial information at the top, and supports capabilities like 3D map display.
The Mercedes-Me linked car app, weather information, route planning to achieve the best possible range, a climate control interface, and the ability to play games on the screen are all other infotainment functions that are accessible through it. Active ambient lighting, a 15-speaker, 710-watt Burmester 3D sound system, and an Air Control Plus air purifier with a HEPA filter that removes 99.65 per cent of pollutants are some additional creature pleasures. The new EQS 580 4Matic is also available with a wide range of interior trim options from Mercedes-Benz.
