The V-Strom 800DE, Suzuki's newest middleweight adventure tourer motorcycle, has been unveiled. The V-Strom 800DE, which was also launched alongside the GSX-8S at EICMA 2022, will be located in Suzuki's worldwide lineup between the 650XT and 1050XT.
The 800DE is undeniably V-Strom in terms of design. It has dual LED headlights that are vertically stacked up front, and a very small beak below them. The motorcycle has a classic yellow livery with blue accents and gold wheels. Suzuki also says two more liveries will be offered: a matt mechanical grey with moulded yellow highlights and black rims, and a glass sparkle black that also has dark blue accents and gold wheels.
The parallel-twin 776 cc DOHC engine that powers the new 800DE generates 82 horsepower at 8,500 rpm and 78 Nm of peak torque at 6,800 rpm. This has a somewhat higher power output compared to the GSX-8S because of a more traditional exhaust system. Four valves are added to each cylinder, and Suzuki claims the engine's 270-degree crankshaft will offer "high levels of torque and good traction," which are advantageous for off-road driving.
The V-Strom 800DE comes equipped with wirespoked 21-inch front wheels and 17-inch rear wheels that are fitted with Dunlop Trailmax Mixtour tires. It also has a fully adjustable Showa suspension with 220 mm of ground clearance and travel on both ends. The bike is built with a small profile for improved control, and the chassis features a steel frame with an aluminum swingarm.
A ride-by-wire throttle, switchable traction control, switchable ABS with two levels of intervention, and four riding modes, including a "G" mode (G for gravel) that is specifically optimized for off-road use are also included in the bike's electrical package. A low rpm assist and a bi-directional quickshifter are also included.
