Tata Motors To Acquire Ford India’s Sanand Plant In Gujarat

As per the reports, Automobile giant Tata Motors is all set to take manufacture their two lakh Electric Vehicles (EV) in Sanand, Gujarat which is currently owned by Ford India. Tata Motors has not made it official yet but as per the sources, both companies have submitted a proposal for the transfer of ownership of the plant to Tata Motors.

Tata Motors had been eyeing this facility since Ford announced their exit from the Indian market in September last year. Tata Motors already own a manufacturing plant in Sanand which is a manufacturing hub for models like Nano, Tigor, and Tiago with a production capacity to produce 1.5 lakh vehicles in a year. 

Ford’s manufacturing plant at Sanand, Gujarat has a facility to produce 2.4 lakh vehicles and 2.7 lakh engines in a year. Owning this facility will give a boost to Tata Motor’s plans to produce two lakh Electric Vehicles (EVs) by 2026.
