Introduced in 2019 in India, Yamaha MT-15 now gets a refreshed version of the much awaited motorcycle, called the Yamaha MT-15 version 2.0 with multiple new features and a few design changes. The key highlight of the new MT-15 version 2.0 is that it gets an upside-down front fork with 37mm inner tubes. The box-section swingarm is also replaced with a MotoGP inspired aluminium swingarm which improves stability in corners and enhances the rider control.
Features
In terms of features, the MT-15 version 2.0 gets a newly designed, fully digital LCD cluster that displays a customizable animated text when you turn on the ignition, along with a gear shift, gear position, and VVA indicator. This motorcycle also features a Bluetooth-enabled Y-connect app that synchronizes your phone with the bike and displays call, e-mail, and SMS alerts on the LCD cluster. The app also shows you information related to maintenance recommendations, nearby parking locations, fuel consumption, and any malfunctions on your smartphone.
Design
At a first glance, the MT-15 version 2.0 looks almost similar to its predecessor. The naked street-fighter also features some familiar design elements like a bi-functional LED headlight, high-raised LED tail-light, and single-channel ABS with a 282mm and 220mm disc brake on the front and rear respectively.
Engine
The MT-15 version 2.0 is powered by a 155cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder, 4-stroke, SOHC, 4-valve engine that produces 18.4PS of peak power at 10,000rpm, with a peak torque output of 14.1Nm at 7,500rpm. The bike comes with a 6-speed gearbox that is mated with an assist and slip clutch. The new version 2.0 weighs 139kgs as it’s based on Yamaha’s patented Delta Box frame.
Version 2.0 is available in a new colour palette which includes cyan storm, racing blue, ice fluo-vermillion, and metallic black. The MT-15 version 2.0 will be available across all the authorized Yamaha dealerships with a starting price of Rs. 1.59 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
