‘Ola Emergency’ Launched In Gurugram For Essential Medical Trips

Ola has announced the launch of ‘Ola Emergency’ on its app to enable essential medical trips on its platform in collaboration with the Government of Haryana. The new category will provide convenient, reliable and safe transport to citizens who need to access a hospital for medical purposes, said the company.

‘Ola Emergency’ is available in Gurugram starting today with a dedicated network of cars that are equipped with masks and sanitizers and will be operated by specially trained drivers. Citizens can book a cab from their app by selecting the “Ola Emergency” category and enter the drop location from a list of available hospitals in the city. Over 100+ hospitals have been mapped on to the app to provide the service to ensure that trips are made from homes to hospitals and vice-versa, it added.

Anand Subramanian, Spokesperson and Head of Communications, Ola, said, “Trips to hospitals for medical urgencies are unavoidable, even in the current times. With Ola Emergency, we are able to facilitate trips to and from hospitals across the city through the Ola app. We are grateful to the Haryana Government for the opportunity to collaborate in serving the citizens. With over 100+ Hospitals in the city mapped, 'Ola Emergency' will be available 24x7 and will provide citizens with a reliable, convenient and safe transport solution for medical trips that do not require an ambulance.”

The launch of the category in Gurugram comes closely after Bengaluru, Vizag, Bhubaneshwar, Nashik and Varanasi, and the service is slated to soon launch in other major cities. Ola continues to work with the authorities to ensure that all dedicated drivers and cars are equipped with essential protective equipment like masks and sanitizers, and will ensure the service is used only for medical travel that is non-COVID and doesn’t require an ambulance, like dialysis, chemotherapy, scheduled check-ups and physical injuries among others. Customers will be charged a nominal fare according to the rate card to compensate driver-partners for their services.
