Mumbai CNG rates have now reached an all-time high when Mahanagar Gas increased CNG pricing on November 5, 2022 by Rs. 3.5 per kg. This price increase, which raised the cost to Rs. 89.50 kg, was the eighth price increase of the year. This means that the price difference between petrol (Rs. 106.29 per litre) and compressed natural gas (CNG) is now just Rs. 16.79. While CNG still has a superior fuel economy than petrol, the economic benefit of choosing it over fuel has now been significantly diminished.
CNG's price in February 2021 was approximately Rs. 49.40 per kg, and in the past 21 months, it has increased by Rs. 40.10 per kg, or an astounding 81 percent. This price increase, which came exactly one month after the previous one, was the eighth this year.
