BMW Launches 7th Generation M5 In India At Rs. 1.99 Crore

Luxury carmaker, BMW has launched the all-new M5 in India at an ex-showroom price of INR 1,99,00,000. The seventh generation of the legendary high-performance sedan will be available in the country as a Completely Built-Up (CBU) model.

The all-new BMW M5 looks towards the future while building on its high-performance predecessors and adds another technical highlight: the M Hybrid powertrain. While the step towards hybridisation looks to the future, the M5 still retains its S68 4.4l V8 engine.

The all-new BMW M5 is available in Alpine White as non-metallic paintwork and in following metallic paintworks – Black Sapphire, Sophisto Grey, Brooklyn Grey, Fire Red, Carbon Black, Isle of Man Green, Storm Bay, Marina Bay Blue, Frozen Deep Grey. BMW Individual paintworks are also available as an option. Full Leather Merino upholstery is available as standard in the following colour options – Red/Black, Kyalami Orange, Silverstone/Black and Black.

Drawing inspiration from the BMW M Hybrid V8 endurance racing machine, the all-new M5 marries a powerful combustion engine with an electric motor to deliver unmatched versatility, blending track-ready performance with sustainable technology.

New Design

The new BMW M5’s aesthetics capture its performance pedigree. A reimagined front end features the signature BMW kidney grille, finished in high-gloss black with iconic contour lighting and M badging. Adaptive LED headlights provide a streamlined, modern look, while the muscular wheel arches, sculpted air intakes, and aggressive stance command attention.

The standard M Carbon Roof, part of the M Carbon exterior package, reduces weight by 30 kg, enhancing the car’s agility and lowering its center of gravity. Alternatively, buyers can opt for a panoramic glass sunroof that adds an expansive, light-filled ambiance to the cabin.

At the rear, a bold M-specific diffuser, black chrome twin exhaust pipes, and large alloy wheels—20-inch fronts and 21-inch rears—underscore its high-performance character.

Electrified Powertrain

The M5 introduces a hybrid powertrain that combines a high-revving 4.4L V8 engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology and a 145 kW electric motor. This M HYBRID system generates a combined output of 727 hp and 1,000 Nm of torque. The combustion engine delivers 585 hp, while the electric motor contributes 197 hp, allowing for seamless transitions between power sources.

The car sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.5 seconds, with a top speed of 305 km/h (with the optional M Driver’s Package). In pure-electric mode, it offers a range of 69 km (WLTP) and can reach speeds up to 140 km/h. A high-voltage 18.6 kWh lithium-ion battery ensures efficient energy storage, while multiple driving modes—Hybrid, Electric, and eControl.

Driving Dynamics

The M5 features a double-wishbone front and five-link rear suspension, ensuring agility and precision. The M xDrive all-wheel-drive system, with a pronounced rear bias in 4WD Sport mode and the option for 2WD mode, offers superior traction and control. Standard adaptive M suspension with electronically controlled dampers and Integral Active Steering optimise handling for both everyday comfort and track-level performance.

For braking, standard M Compound brakes deliver reliable stopping power, while optional M Carbon ceramic brakes enhance performance on the racetrack.

Interior

Inside, the M5 combines luxury with motorsport flair. The redesigned M leather steering wheel, illuminated M multifunction seats, and Anthracite headliner elevate the cabin’s exclusivity. The BMW Curved Display houses the latest Operating System 8.5, offering intuitive navigation, enhanced entertainment, and customisable settings.
