Ashok Leyland, the Hinduja Group's flagship company, experienced a three per cent decline in total sales, selling 14,053 units in November, compared to 14,561 units in the same month last year.
The sales of medium and heavy commercial vehicles faced a notable setback, dropping by 10 per cent in domestic and overseas markets, recording 8,500 units in November 2023, down from 9,474 units in the corresponding month of the previous year.
Conversely, light commercial vehicles exhibited growth, with a nine per cent increase to 5,553 units in November 2023, compared to 5,087 units in November 2022.
Cumulative sales until November 2023 reflected an overall seven per cent rise, totaling 1,22,092 units, up from 1,14,370 units in the same period last year.
Medium and heavy commercial vehicles contributed to this growth, achieving an eight per cent increase to 76,936 units, compared to 71,356 units in November 2022.
Similarly, light commercial vehicles cumulatively sold till November 2023 grew by 5 per cent to 45,156 units, up from 43,014 units in the corresponding period of the previous year.
While Ashok Leyland navigates a dip in overall sales, the contrasting performance between medium and heavy commercial vehicles and light commercial vehicles underscores the diverse dynamics within the automotive sector.
