Lohia, a battery-operated three-wheelers manufacturer, has entered the battery-swapping station market with the unveiling of its first facility in Visakhapatnam.
Strategically located in Visakhapatnam, Lohia has introduced three fully functional Swapping cum Service Stations at Shanti Ashram Marg, Town Kotha, and Mudasarlova. These stations are equipped with high-capacity batteries with a total of 240 battery swapping slots.
By introducing the battery-swapping system, Lohia aims to make electric vehicles more accessible and convenient while contributing to environmental conservation.
On the occasion, Ayush Lohia, CEO of Lohia, said "This initiative aligns with our vision of making electric vehicles more practical and reducing dependence on fossil fuels. By providing a reliable and efficient swapping solution, we aim to transform the perception of EVs and drive their widespread adoption."
The company has ambitious plans to expand its network to other cities in the near future.
Lohia's foray into battery-swapping stations has been made possible through collaboration with the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) and funding from the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
Lohia has a manufacturing facility in Kashipur has capacity to produce 1,00,000 electric vehicles.
