EMotorad, e-bikes & ride-ons manufacturing startup, has announced its strategic alliance with retail giant Toys“R”Us to gain a stronghold in the young-age ride-on category. The company says that the young-age category is largely an untapped segment in e-mobility.
Through the partnership, the company hopes to introduce young riders to electric fun, creating a new generation of users who will later transition to electric vehicles for their daily commute. This aligns with the electric bicycle manufacturer’s vision to bring about a social change that will benefit public health and the environment.
Elaborating his stance on the present market scenario, Kunal Gupta, CEO and Co-founder of EMotorad, said, "We see a huge gap in the market for electronically operated ride-ons, and this presents us with newer opportunities to capitalise on while ensuring that our products add fun to our young users’ lifestyle. Thus, we are lining up new products to disrupt this segment. We are confident that our partnerships with brands like Toys“R”Us will enable us to reach out to a wider audience and achieve our goal of providing the best possible experience to customers, innovatively."
Launched in April 2022, EMotorad's Lil E, an electric kick scooter for kids, has clocked sales of about 2000 units in over 100 cities, including Tier 2 & 3 cities. Lil E is projected to see 40 per cent growth in sales, with the introduction of new channels and rapid expansion of the EMotorad’s current online and offline footprint. Its success has prompted the company to explore the segment further and expand its product offerings.
Commenting on the partnership, Sudhir Pai, Chief Business Officer, Toys & Accessories at Ace Turtle, which runs Toys“R”Us in India, said, “The youth is going to love these products because not only are they exhilarating, but they also are quite purposeful and facilitate commuting.”
In May 2023, EMotorad plans to launch Aeroglyde, India's first self-balancing hover shoes.
