Refuting the rumors of helmet shortage in various cities, President of Two-Wheeler Helmet Manufacturers Association, Rajeev Kapur said that “the Indian helmet industry is on fast acceleration mode and have been ramping up the production by over 3 -4 times to meet the demand of helmets. Post the application of new Motor vehicle act the industry is witnessing an acute rise in the demand of helmets and we are well prepared to meet the demand”.
He further added, “the industry is fully capable to meet the growing demand and at the moment over 400,000 ISI helmets are being manufactured and supplied every day to the market to ensure there should be no panic among the buyers and that everyone gets a good quality helmet at pocket-friendly prices”.
“We are ensuring that helmets should be delivered timely and is available at every look & corner for the people through various retailers & distributors. Besides the retail outlets, we are also ensuring that the helmets should be delivered to the customer's doorstep as the leading brands have tied up with the E-commerce websites to get the right product at a discounted price,” concluded Kapur.
However, the point of concern is not the shortage but there is an equally surge in the fake helmets sales as well. So, we want to aware of the two-wheeler riders to go for the branded ISI certified helmets which are mandatory according to the Motor Vehicle Act.
Though there is a significant awareness with regard to wearing an ISI Helmet still a large section of the society is going out for local & fake helmets which is a cause of concern and the Government should cater to this to safeguard the life of the two-wheeler riders from accidents.
