Jaguar Land Rover Customers Will Now Get Navigation Support In Remote Locations Also

Luxury carmaker, Jaguar Land Rover has now integrated the what3words always-on global location technology into their vehicles. The new technology is available to all new and existing Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles fitted with its advanced Pivi Pro infotainment system.

To the existing 200,000 customers, the company is providing this technology through a software-over-the-air (SOTA) update.

The updated software will now provide the customers with more accurate and precise navigation even in the most remote locations using just three words.

How does the Always-On Technology Work?

The always-on technology works without the need for mobile connectivity, thus operates even in remote locations with no phone signal.

what3words has divided the globe into a grid of 3m x 3m squares and has given each square a unique combination of three random words called a what3words address.  Once you have updated the software, the system allows customers to input what3words addresses directly into the navigation bar on the Pivi Pro Infotainment system.

The integration has been delivered by HERE Technologies, Jaguar Land Rover’s navigation partner for the past 25 years. HERE’s end-to-end, connected driving services include turn-by-turn guidance, real-time traffic and on and off-street parking that enable a personalised experience, intuitively guiding drivers through their entire journey.
