Mercedes-Benz is celebrating 25 years since production first began in India in 1994.
In the beginning, Mercedes-Benz cars were assembled in the Tata Motors (Telco) premises. In 2009, the Chakan plant, spread over 100 acres was inaugurated. This year also marks the 10th anniversary of this factory.
Today, the factory employs 730 people and is said to be the first local assembly of Mercedes to implement Virtual Reality technology in the training process. New digital technologies are paving the way towards a paperless factory.
The Mercedes-Benz portfolio in India comprises of models like the C-Class, E-Class, S-Class, CLA Coupe, Maybach S-Class, GLA, GLC, GLE, and GLS SUVs.
“Completion of 25 years for Mercedes-Benz is a significant milestone and is a tribute to our customers who have been appreciating our products and services and the unparalleled luxury brand experience associated with Mercedes-Benz.
