The S1 electric scooter, Ola Electric's first product, has reached the one lakh production mark. Ola Electric's co-founder and CEO, Bhavish Aggarwal, shared pictures of the 100,000th rolling-out vehicle on Twitter to mark the news. An all-female staff at the plant surrounds the white Ola S1 as it exits the manufacturing line. The Ola futurefactory in Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu, manufactures the locally-made electric scooter.
It's interesting that within 24 hours of the S1 e-bookings scooter's opening in July of last year, Ola Electric had received over one lakh orders for the vehicle. But it took the company a full 10 months to pass the manufacturing benchmark. Ola also experienced production delays and protracted wait times as a result of the supply chain problems plaguing the sector. However, it appears that the company's facility has streamlined production.
Bhavish Aggarwal stated that the company has increased production and is now producing more than 1,000 vehicles per day during the Ola S1 Air launch last month.
The installed capacity of the Ola future factory is two million units per ear. The plant will be able to produce 10 million electric two-wheelers annually once it is fully operational. In the future, the plant will also manufacture newer models, including the highly anticipated Ola electric car, which is scheduled to debut in 2024.
