SMEV Appoints R K Misra As New President
Society of Manufacturers of Electric Vehicles (SMEV), the apex body of the Indian Electric Vehicle industry, has appointed R K Misra, Co-Founder of Yulu Bikes and Director at Magna Yuma as its new President for 2023-24.
Commenting on his new role, R K Misra, said, "The Indian electric mobility sector is at a crucial juncture and holds immense potential to transform the way we commute and contribute to a greener future. I am honoured to be a part of SMEV’s esteemed members and partners to accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles and make a lasting impact on the cleaner transportation ecosystem."
The members of SMEV also appointed the following for the year 2023-24:
• Akshay Kashyap, Managing Director at Greenfuel Energy Solutions as Vice President
• Umesh Balani, Managing Director at Rotomag/Rotomotive Group as Secretary
• Anadi N Sinha, Director of Group Corporate Affairs at Uno Minda as Treasurer

➥ President, SMEV - R K Misra: Co-Founder of Yulu Bikes & Director at Magna Yuma
The Co-Founder at India’s electric mobility-as-a-service platform Yulu and Director at Magna Yuma, a battery-as-a-service platform established by Yulu in partnership with Magna International.
He successfully founded and exited Tenet Technologies (Sold to Hughes) and Traveljini.com (sold to ICICI Ventures) post which he decided to leave the corporate world to engage with the issues of Public Policy and governance.
Besides being a serial entrepreneur, he has actively contributed to several social impact initiatives such as Carnegie India, Center for Smart Cities (Founder), SAHYOG (Founder) and Karnataka CM's vision group.
He is an IIT Kanpur graduate with a Master’s degree from Tokyo University, and also a Fellow of Harvard Kennedy School of Govt and Aspen Institute.
➥ Vice President, SMEV - Akshay Kashyap, Managing Director of Greenfuel Energy Solutions
He is an alumnus of the Florida Institute of Technology and is leading the Greenfuel Energy Solutions. His focus is on producing low-emissions power solutions to achieve India's net zero emissions goal by 2070.
With a mechanical engineering background, he brings over two decades of experience, including roles at Swagelok Company USA and Delhi Fluid Systems. He's garnered accolades for his work, including awards. Akshay is a scuba-diving enthusiast, and a yoga practitioner, and follows Vedanta principles.
➥ Secretary, SMEV - Umesh Balani, Managing Director at Rotomag Motors & Controls
Umesh is the Founder and Managing Director of Rotomag, which is involved in the design and manufacture of Electric drives, motors, and gear systems for industrial, wind, solar, and EV applications. Currently, over 2 million motors/drives manufactured by it are in operation in 35 countries.
He was previously the Chairman of the MSME National Council of ASSOCHAM and his interests include fine architecture, nature, and monuments.
An Electronics Engineering graduate, he also holds an MBA from SPJIMR.
➥ Treasurer, SMEV - Anadi N Sinha, Director of Group Corporate Affairs at Uno Minda
He is a recognised HR Veteran-cum-Business Strategist with skills to manage personnel and ensure that human resources programs and initiatives are effective, efficient, and aligned to overall business objectives. He has 38 years of rich diverse Industry experience across Automotive, Electronics, Telecom, and Retail.
Previously he worked with Tata, Bharti Airtel, Bridgestone, Lupin, and Kelvinator. As Corporate Affairs Head in Uno Minda Group, he possesses an indelible reputation in driving sustainable HR digitisation and maintaining impactful relationships with industry associations and trade unions.
He is an LLB and MBA (University of Allahabad).
