Tata Motors To Acquire Ford India’s Sanand Plant

Automobile Giant, Tata Motor’s electric division and Ford India have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Government of Gujarat for the potential acquisition of Ford’s Sanand vehicle manufacturing facility.

The transfer will include the land & buildings, the complete vehicle manufacturing plant, machinery & equipment and the transfer of all eligible employees of Ford’s vehicle manufacturing operations at Sanand, Gujarat.

Ford will operate its Powertrain manufacturing facilities by leasing back the land and buildings of the Powertrain unit from the Tata Passenger Electric Mobility division.

Tata Motors would invest in new machinery and equipment which is necessary to commission and make the unit ready to produce its vehicles. With the proposed investments, Tata Motors would establish an installed capacity of 300,000 units per annum that would be scalable to more than 400,000 units in a year.

This unit is adjacent to the existing manufacturing facility of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles at Sanand, Gujarat.
