Uber Users Can Now Book Delhi Metro Tickets Via ONDC Integration

Uber has launched metro ticketing on its app in partnership with the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC), starting with the Delhi Metro. This is Uber’s first integration with India’s digital public infrastructure and a key step in expanding its services beyond traditional ride-hailing.
The feature allows Delhi users to plan metro trips, buy QR-based tickets, and view real-time transit updates directly on the Uber app. Payments can be made through UPI, boosting digital adoption and financial inclusion.
This partnership is part of an agreement signed during Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi’s visit to India in 2024. Three more Indian cities are expected to go live with metro ticketing on Uber in 2025.
Praveen Neppalli Naga, CTO at Uber, said the collaboration shows how private companies can work with public platforms like ONDC to offer smarter travel solutions. “We want Uber to be a one-stop app for all mobility needs,” he added.
Beyond metro tickets, Uber also plans to launch a B2B logistics service through ONDC. This will let businesses request deliveries using Uber’s driver network, starting with food and expanding to sectors like e-commerce and healthcare. It aims to create more income opportunities for Uber’s 1.4 million drivers.
Vibhor Jain, Acting CEO and COO at ONDC, said the tie-up opens up new possibilities in transport and logistics by combining Uber’s scale with ONDC’s open and interoperable infrastructure.
India is a key innovation hub for Uber, which now operates in 70 countries and handles 34 million trips globally each day. Bengaluru is Uber’s second-largest tech hub worldwide.
Since its entry into India in 2013, Uber has expanded from car rides to include bikes, autos, buses, intercity travel, and now metro access, all through a single app. With the ONDC partnership, Uber is reshaping its traditionally closed model to align with India’s vision of an open digital commerce ecosystem.
