VoltUp has partnered with BSNL to launch battery-swapping stations in 4 locations across Gurugram, enabling an infrastructure of more than 150 charging docks. The partnership between VoltUp and BSNL will extend to 30 locations across Haryana by year-end. Further, the partnership between VoltUp and BSNL will expand to major cities with high automobile density, to encourage last-mile connectivity agents to adopt e-2 & 3 wheelers in their daily use. With the addition of new locations in Gurugram, VoltUp now has over 110 stations with more than 1300 charging docks across 10 cities and 8 states. By end of the calendar year 2024, VoltUp aims to increase its number of stations to around 2000.
Adoption of a swappable battery is on the rise with last-mile connectivity agents opting for minimal downtime coupled with low running costs and low upfront costs to adopt safer and better battery technologies. With Gurugram being one of the early adopters of swappable batteries, VoltUp has been consistently increasing its presence in the city to support the growing demand. A Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) platform, VoltUp offers a one-stop solution for battery swapping of all-electric 2&3 wheelers. Providing riders with smart swappable batteries, VoltUp helps enable a quick turnaround for discharged EVs within a minute ensuring nil downtime to the users and zero hassles for all battery-related issues.
Speaking about the partnership, Ganesh Chandra, GM (TD) – BSNL, said, “As an environment conscious organisation, BSNL is enthused to promote the adoption of electric vehicles in daily transport. Our partnership with VoltUp opens a new path towards promoting the adoption of clean energy and reducing carbon emissions. A dense network of charging stations is essential for battery swapping to be a success story in India. While we are starting with 4 locations in Gurugram, by the end of the year we will be extending the partnership in other cities.”
On the partnership with BSNL, Ritesh Singh, Head BD & Strategy, VoltUp, said, “Last mile connectivity agents are ambassadors-at-large for battery swapping and they will be the drivers of battery swapping adoption in the country. While the battery-swapping industry is still at a nascent stage, we are witnessing a groundswell towards its adoption. Low running cost and almost nil downtime enable a last mile connectivity agent to complete more trips and earn more.”
Nikhil Mathur, Circle Business Head, VoltUp further added, “In cities, space is a big constraint and availability of charging points can be challenging, for e-2 wheelers, e-3 wheelers. BSNL has been a pioneer in connecting consumers with technology and with this partnership, consumers can experience the transition of urban mobility to green mobility.”
Advanced Lithium batteries will be provided as a subscription to lower the initial investment in the e-2 wheelers & e-3 wheelers. It offers battery swapping in less than 1 minute through VoltUp’s dedicated network of charging zones to enable smooth and uninterrupted transport operations. The service networks will provide complete maintenance, and service support to batteries on the platform. The smart stations will be monitored via an Ops engine to maintain battery charging temperatures and cell balancing for higher efficiencies.
Keeping up with the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s vision on electric vehicles and making urban cities a better place for living by reducing Carbon emissions, VoltUp is speeding up the adoption of E Vehicles in India by setting up smart battery swapping network which is hassle-free and takes less than 1 minute to swap and be on the road. The service network will provide complete maintenance and service support to all e-vehicles.
