Charles Frump, who has been at the helm of affairs at Volvo Cars India since October 2017, completed his tenure in India on March 1, 2021, With Jyoti Malhotra taking the reins of Volvo Car India, Charles has now moved on to Volvo Car Malaysia as Managing Director. He replaces Nalin Jain, who served as VCM MD from 2019 to 2020.

In his Four-year innings in India, Frump saw Volvo start local production in India, introduce new-generation models and also expanded the carmaker’s footprint in India. Under his leadership, Volvo Car India delivered record results in both market share and earnings. The company has an ambitious plan of going for Electric vehicles beginning with a soon-to-be-launched XC40 Recharge.
Frump’s association with Volvo Cars dates back to 2009, where he worked as the director of marketing at Volvo Car Japan. He has more than two decades of automotive experience in different markets and dynamics across Asia, the US, and Europe, and has also held global, regional, and local roles in the areas of marketing, sales, customer service, and network management.
“I see Malaysia as a crossroad of the places I have been in the past. I’m excited to learn more about the local culture, taste the various national dishes, and more importantly, build Volvo Car Malaysia’s strengths and electrification mission with the local team.” Added Frump.
As the company strives towards a more sustainable future, Frump will also play a key part in spearheading VCM as the leader in premium electric vehicles in Malaysia.
