Luca de Meo To Step Down As Renault Group CEO In July 2025

After a five-year tenure marked by significant transformation and recovery, Renault Group CEO, Luca de Meo, will step down from his role effective July 15, 2025. De Meo plans to pursue new professional opportunities outside the automotive sector.
The announcement was made following a meeting of Renault Group’s Board of Directors, led by Chairman Jean-Dominique Senard. The board expressed its appreciation for de Meo’s leadership, which helped steer the company through a period of intense restructuring and set the foundation for future growth.
“The company has returned to a healthy foundation, boasts an impressive range of products, and has resumed growth,” Senard said. He praised de Meo not only for his strategic leadership but also for his creativity and personal dedication during a challenging time for the company.
De Meo, who joined Renault Group in 2020, is widely credited with launching and executing the company’s “Renaulution” strategy — a multi-year roadmap aimed at stabilising finances, repositioning brands, and investing in electrification and technology. Under his leadership, Renault achieved record financial results and developed a pipeline of new-generation vehicles.
In his farewell statement, de Meo said the timing felt right. “We have achieved what many thought impossible. The results speak for themselves, they are the best in our history,” he said. He emphasized the strength of the current management team and the readiness of the company to move forward with its next phase. “I’m leaving a transformed company, poised for the future,” he added, thanking employees, the board, and Senard for their support.
Renault’s Board has already initiated the CEO succession process, based on a predefined plan. It has expressed confidence in the leadership team’s ability to carry forward the company’s transformation agenda.
