Delhi CM Rolls Out 400 DEVi Electric Buses To Link Metro Stations & Bus Terminals

The Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi has introduced Delhi Electric Vehicle Interconnector (DEVi) initiative consisting of a fleet of advanced electric buses, which will ply between the Delhi metro stations and key bus terminals. The initiative, aligned with the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and under the leadership of Chief Minister of Delhi Rekha Gupta will enhance the public transportation in the city for better last mile connectivity and encourage sustainable mobility.

The new advanced electric bus fleet will provide the citizens and commuters environment friendly and comfortable public transportation between metro stations and bus terminals, ending the last-mile connectivity challenges in the city over the past decade.

In its first phase, over 400 DEVi compact buses have been introduced across East Delhi and West Delhi, covering areas such as Ghazipur, Vinod Nagar East, and Nangloi. Each DEVi bus will have 23 seats, with 6 seats reserved exclusively for women, and the capacity to accommodate 13 standing passengers. The fare structure will range between Rs 10 and Rs 25, while all women passengers will be able to travel free of cost. The buses are scheduled to operate at regular intervals of every 10 minutes, making urban travel more reliable and accessible.

Speaking at the launch of DEVi initiative, Rekha Gupta, Chief Minister, Government of Delhi, said, “The Government is working with the vision of transforming Delhi into a world class city with integrated smart transportation systems. The launch of DEVi is yet another endeavour from us to address a critical challenge of last mile connectivity faced by the city commuters every day. The DEVi initiative will not only provide public with sustainable, cost-effective and hassle-free commuting solution but also enhance sustainable mobility. We are happy to receive complete support from our Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji, Dharmendra Pradhan ji and the Central Government in our mission in making Delhi cleaner and greener.”

The DEVi initiative has modern Intelligent Transport Management System (ITMS) technologies integrated, with the buses featuring GPS tracking, automatic passenger counting, digital route displays, voice announcement systems, CCTV surveillance, panic buttons, wheelchair ramps, and knee-down flooring for easy access.
