Gogoro Inc. introduces the CrossOver GX250, the company's first smart scooter made in India, and starts offering its battery-swapping ecosystem and smart scooters in India.
Initially catering to B2B customers in Delhi and Goa, Gogoro plans to expand to Mumbai and Pune in the first half of 2024, with consumer availability in the second quarter of 2024.
“On average, last-mile delivery riders ride more than six times the distance as consumer riders, so enabling these delivery riders to adopt smart, sustainable electric transportation can have an accelerated impact on a city," said Horace Luke, founder and CEO of Gogoro.
The CrossOver series, including models CrossOver GX250, CrossOver 50, and CrossOver S, focuses on an all-terrain frame for increased rigidity and comfort, offering various storage, riding, and customisation capabilities. The CrossOver GX250, manufactured in Maharashtra, India, is Gogoro's inaugural India-made smart scooter, optimised for local conditions with features requested by Indian riders.
The CrossOver GX250 comes with a 2.5 kW direct drive, providing a top speed of 60 plus kmph and a certified range of 111km. The new frame design adds extra strength and allows for larger loads while emphasising comfort and stability.
The CrossOver GX250 includes passenger riding space and ample storage options, accommodating various storage needs with a new mounting point expansion system and having a flexible cargo capacity designed to adapt to different riding scenarios.
The CrossOver GX250 received certification from India's International Centre for Automotive Technology (ICAT) in August, and Gogoro was named the country's first foreign two-wheel OEM by the Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) in November, stated the company.
