South Korean carmaker, Kia has unveiled the Carens Clavis in India, the latest addition to its Carens portfolio. Positioned as a premium recreational vehicle (RV), the Carens Clavis aims to bridge the gap between traditional MPVs and SUVs. It builds upon the success of the Carens, which has reached over two lakh customers in India within just three years.

Bookings for the Carens Clavis already open ad are available both at Kia dealerships across the country and through the company’s official website. The vehicle is offered in seven variants as HTE, HTE(O), HTK, HTK+, HTK+(O), HTX, and HTX+ with a choice of eight exterior colours including the new Ivory Silver Gloss.

In terms of exterior design, the Carens Clavis features Kia’s global ‘Opposites United’ design philosophy. Other design features include 17-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, satin chrome skid plates, roof rails, and a rear spoiler, giving it a bold road presence while maintaining practicality.

Inside, the Carens Clavis focuses on space, flexibility, and comfort. The cabin is finished in a Triton Navy and Beige theme with leatherette seats. A key highlight is the 26.62-inch dual panoramic display panel that integrates the digital instrument cluster and infotainment system. Kia has added thoughtful elements such as one-touch electric folding second-row seats, sliding and reclining seats for the second and third rows, and a walk-in lever (Boss Mode) for easy third-row access. The vehicle is available in both six- and seven-seat configurations.

Additional comfort features include ventilated front seats, a powered driver seat, 64-colour ambient lighting, a dual-pane panoramic sunroof, and a Bose eight-speaker premium audio system. Other convenience-focused additions include a seat-mounted air purifier, wireless phone charger, rain-sensing wipers, and an infotainment-temperature swap switch that lets users toggle between the climate and media controls.

On the safety front, the Carens Clavis offers a Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) with 20 autonomous features. These include Forward Collision Avoidance Assist, Blind Spot Collision Warning, Lane Keep Assist, Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go, and a 360-degree camera with a Blind View Monitor. The vehicle also comes with 18 standard safety features such as six airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Hill-start Assist (HAC), Downhill Brake Control (DBC), Rear Occupant Alert, and all-wheel disc brakes.

Under the hood, the Carens Clavis offers three engine options: a 1.5-litre Smartstream petrol engine, a 1.5-litre Turbo-GDi petrol engine (now available with a 6-speed manual transmission), and a 1.5-litre diesel engine. Automatic variants feature paddle shifters and selectable drive modes - Eco, Normal, and Sport.
