Fluctuating exchange rates, rising fuel costs and high-interest rates have impacted the consumer sentiment in the auto industry. Maruti Suzuki and Toyota Kirloskar have seen a downward trend in sales in November 2018 compared to the previous year. The New Ciaz and the Yaris could not really set the chart sales charts on fire. Maruti saw 4.3% decrease in sales of the New Ciaz selling 3,838 units in November compared to 4003 units in Nov 2017. In the Compact segment including The New Swift, Celerio, Ignis, Baleno and New DZire Maruti saw a growth of 10.8% with 72,533units sold compared to 65,447 units sold last November. In the Mini segment comprising of Alto and WagonR Maruti saw a decline of 21%. There is 19.1% decrease in export numbers as well for Maruti but in the LCV segment, Maruti has sold double the amount of SuperCarry registering 112% growth.
Toyota Kirloskar Motors (TKM) has also seen a decrease in sales, in November 2018 TKM has sold 10721 units and 669 units of Etios for export compared to 11,390 units and 686 export units in November 2017. Car maker states exchange rates, fuel costs and interest rates as the reason for the decline in numbers this holiday season.
Honda Cars India riding on the success of the New Amaze and WRV has registered a 10% growth in the month of November 2018 with total sales figures of 13,006 units compared to 11,819 units last year. Mahindra and Mahindra has also seen a positive growth in November 2018, with cumulative sales figures at 45,101 units compared to 38,570 units last year, registering a growth of 17%. Mahindra sold 16,188 units of Passenger vehicles in November 2018 against 16,030 last year.
