Renault Triber Scores 4Stars In Global NCAP’s Safe Rating

Renault Triber, The Made in India affordable people mover from Renault India has scored an impressive 4 Star Safety Rating for adult occupant protection and 3 stars for child occupant protection in the rear in crash tests conducted by Global NCAP.

Being the first Indian Car in 2021 to be tested under the ‘Safer Cars for India’ initiative by Global NCAP, the scores are significant and a big step up for Renault India which did not do well with KWID, Duster, and Lodgy in the Crash Tests earlier.

Alejandro Furas, Secretary-General of Global NCAP said, “Renault has significantly improved adult occupant protection performance in frontal crashes compared with our 2016 tests on the Kwid. The Triber sets a strong baseline for the manufacturer, and we encourage Renault to maintain this important progress as a minimum with the goal of achieving 5-star levels of safety.”

The Crash Test was conducted at the speed of 64kmph and the results showed the protection offered to the adult occupant driver and passenger head and neck was good.  The driver's chest showed marginal protection and the passenger's chest showed adequate protection. Driver's knees showed marginal protection as they could impact dangerous structures behind the dashboard. Passenger's knees showed good protection. Driver and passenger tibias showed adequate protection. The bodyshell was rated as unstable and it was not capable of withstanding further loadings. The Footwell area was rated as stable. The car offers standard seatbelt reminders (SBR) for drivers and passengers.

“It is satisfying to note Renault’s safety improvements with Global NCAP’s Triber crash test result. We would encourage them to continue this progress, and to set a five star or Safer Choice rating as their future target for the Indian market.” said David Ward, President of the Towards Zero Foundation
