The Euro-spec car features a more powerful version of the 2.0-litre TSI turbo-petrol engine, which now puts out 245hp and 370Nm of torque (15hp and 20Nm more than before). This Tuner Special Motor comes paired with a 7-speed DSG, giving the Octavia RS a quicker 0-100kph time of 6.6sec (Indian Spec car did it in 6.8sec), while the top speed remains the same at 250kph. It also gets an updated suspension setup, larger 18-inch alloys and a body kit which gives the RS a decidedly aggressive look. The exteriors also come with blacked-out elements, LED headlights, tail-lamps, fog lamps and daytime running lights (DRLs), steel exhaust tips and a boot spoiler.
The Octavia RS 245 could come through the CBU route resulting in higher prices, we are sure the enthusiasts wouldn’t mind it. But 2.0-litre TSI Turbo-petrol motor is very mod friendly and almost all of the Octavia RS’s sold would get some performance modifications done to the engine. Higher pricing could act as a deterrent as now the Octavia RS is closer to the BMW 330i.
All said, with Indian Auto Industry in the slump we appreciate this move by Skoda India to bring the enthusiast favourite Octavia RS 245 to the Indian shores.
