Auto Expo 2022 And Auto Components Show 2022 Postponed

AutoExpo - The Motor Show 2022 which was currently scheduled from 2nd – 9th February 2022 at India Expo Mart in Greater Noida, has been postponed by SIAM.

Rajesh Menon, Director General, Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) said in a statement “Safety of Exhibitors, Visitors and all stakeholders involved and present at the Expo is the topmost priority for SIAM. It is in this context that the Indian Automobile Industry and SIAM recognises the inherent risks in organising the AutoExpo due to the on-going Covid-19 Pandemic and the apprehensions of a possible 3rd Wave.”

While many countries are going into lockdown with the third wave of COVID19, India is yet to see the third wave. Some experts say the third wave will be milder than the second wave, while some say it could be much harsher than before.

“There is uncertainty around how COVID-19 would develop in the coming months and at the same time organizing AutoExpo would need a lead time of preferably a year. Also, AutoExpo is like a festival of celebration, for the Indian Automobile Industry and we look forward to receiving maximum people with no fear of the spread of infection. The magnitude of the risk of spread of infection is extremely high in a B2C show like AutoExpo which is visited by large crowds and maintaining social distancing would be difficult. It has therefore been decided to postpone the AutoExpo – The Motor Show for now.” Menon added.

The Auto Components Show organized by the Automotive Components Manufacturers Association of India (ACMA) is held side by side with Auto Expo. With SIAM postponing the main expo, ACMA president Deepak Jain while announcing the component industry’s performance results said, "The component industry has to be aligned with the vehicle industry. The Auto Expo is a very prestigious event and hence the Components Show will also need to be postponed. So, we would also look at a later date, when the pandemic situation is conducive."

The Auto Expo and Auto Component Show 2022 is likely to be rescheduled later this year keeping in view the Covid situation and in alignment with the OICA Calendar of global Auto shows.
