Bosch India Bets Big on Business that Goes 'Beyond Mobility'

Bosch India is taking big steps to make India a global manufacturing hub. Bosch is one of the largest auto component manufacturers. On February 24 it announced that 'with Rs 800 crore invested to transform Adugodi, a locality in Bengaluru that is Bosch’s largest campus outside of Europe, into a smart campus. "It is poised to be a hub of innovation and creativity," the company Tweeted. Bosch in India is a leading supplier of technology & services in the areas of automotive & industrial technology, consumer goods & building technology.

"From driving insightful strategies to an agile method of working and digital initiatives, Bosch India stands by its vision of making India a Global Manufacturing Hub through its mission of ‘We. Perform. Transform’ to make lean, connected, and automated factories a reality," Bosch India said in a statement. Post-Covid - Touchless automation, detecting cameras, gesture control products like entry-exit have seen an increase in demand and we are working closely with the government to bring about these innovations, the company said. Nearly 25% of Bosch’s workforce in India is equipped with AI and ML skills to help develop solutions that cater to the needs of the future. it added.

"Manufacturing follows Takt, Flow and Rhythm. By takt I mean shortest cycle times, highest OEE and low cycle time variations. Flow for me is shortest lead times with low inventory and rhythm comes from leveled, cyclical material flow and standardized work. All these coupled with the power of I4.0 lays the foundation for smart factories. Future is lean, automated and connected, "said Karsten Mueller, Senior VP – Manufacturing and Quality, Bosch India.  

Bosch employs over 31,500 associates in India and is home to 18,000 engineers across 7 locations, representing the largest Bosch R&D workforce outside Germany. Over 5,250 associates — nearly 25 percent of the workforce — have been trained in AI and ML-related skills to create more value to the customers. Bosch is additionally collaborating with cloud and software providers in its journey to design, develop, and deliver affordable connected products

Meanwhile, Robert Bosch Engineering and Business Solutions (RBEI) is on its way to redefine how companies transform into digital enterprise with connected products, digitized factories and new business models. Through its Discover, Nurture, and Align (DNA) program, the company engages the product innovation ecosystem of India. 17 startups are part of the 4th cohort of RBEI’s DNA Program to mentor, partner, in 2020.
