ElectroRide, a multi-brand electric vehicles retail chain, has partnered with Battery Smart, a battery swapping network for electric two and three-wheelers. The first phase of this collaboration will see Battery Smart set-up 50 swap stations at ElectroRide locations across Delhi and Uttar Pradesh.
The partnership is aimed at making electric mobility adoption simple, economical, and efficient, by creating more EV swapping infrastructure, tying into Battery Smart’s goal of giving EV users access to swap stations within a 1 km radius with zero wait time. In the next five years, ElectroRide’s 2,500 locations will be equipped with battery swapping stations.
Rahul Goenka, Director of ElectroRide, expressed enthusiasm stating, “This initiative aligns with the government's push towards greener transportation solutions and is poised to make electric vehicles more viable for the masses. The strategic placement of these stations aims to cater to the needs of urban and intercity electric vehicle commuters, fostering a paradigm shift towards cleaner and efficient mobility solutions.”
Operationalised in June 2020, Battery Smart has rapidly scaled to 1000 stations across 30 cities, completing over 35 million swaps. By utilising Battery Smart’s Battery-as-a-service (BaaS) model, EV users can swiftly replace depleted EV batteries within 2 minutes with fully charged ones.
“With the growing adoption and acceptance of electric vehicles nationwide, it is crucial to expand access to battery swapping stations. This will enable two and three-wheeler EV users to benefit from the convenience, cost-effectiveness, and efficiency that battery swapping offers,” said Nishant Garg, Senior Director of Expansion at Battery Smart.
Subsequent phases of the project will see a rapid expansion of the network, covering additional regions to ensure widespread accessibility. In its last-mile mobility solutions, ElectroRide also intends to deploy 30,000 vehicles, incorporating battery swapping technology to extend their range.
