Indian State Ministers Scurry To Invite Elon Musk To Their States

After Telangana industry and commerce minister, KT Rama Rao offered to partner with Tesla to set shop in India or Telangana. by saying “Our state is a champion in sustainability initiatives & a top-notch business destination in India” said the minister.”, ministers of other states have also taken to Twitter to invite the CEO of the US firm to manufacture Tesla in India from their respective states.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk’s one-line tweet “Still working through a lot of challenges with the government” would receive such a reaction from the State ministers was unexpected.

After Telangana Minister’s invite to Musk, Maharastra State water resources minister Jayant Patil took to Twitter to invite Tesla CEO Elon Musk to establish Tesla’s manufacturing plant in Maharashtra while pitching for the state saying “Maharashtra is one of the most progressive states in India. We will provide you all the necessary help from Maharashtra for you to get established in India.”


Soon after West Bengal Cabinet Minister of State for Minority Affairs & Madrassah Education Md Ghulam Rabbani invited Musk to West Bengal saying “West Bengal have best infra & our leader Mamta Banerjee has got the vision. Bengal means Business …”


Soon after President of Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee Navjot Singh Sidhu took to twitter to invite Musk to the state of Punjab, “Punjab model will create Ludhiana as hub for Electric Vehicles & Battery industry with time bound single window clearance for investment that brings new technology to Punjab, create green jobs, walking path of environment preservation & sustainable development” he said


Tamil Nadu which has a lot of auto manufacturing units setup by global players like Hyundai and Nissan was next, the Chairman of the TN Estimates Committee T. R. B Rajaa, invited Musk by calling Tamil Nadu the “Detroit of India”. He further went on to reassure Musk “The #TNGovt will ensure that  setting up office is a breeze and our highly skilled talented youngsters will help you overcome all the challenges while you concentrate on the work...of building a better world Together.”


What lead to this?

Tesla CEO Elon Musk tweeted “Still working through a lot of challenges with the government” while replying to a twitter users tweet asking an update on when Tesla will launch in India.
