Mahindra had first showcased the Y400 at the 2018 Auto Expo. The New SUV will go up against the likes of upcoming facelifted Isuzu MUX and the Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour but could be priced comparatively lower.
In terms of features, the all-new Mahindra SUV will come equipped with HID lights, electric sunroof, dual-zone climate control, ventilated seats, 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with GPS, 9 airbags and electric parking brake.
Reports state that this SUV will be powered by a 2.2-litre diesel motor that makes 178PS of power and generates 420Nm of torque. A 7-speed Mercedes-Benz automatic transmission will send power to all four wheels.
Speaking on the announcement, Rajan Wadhera, President – Automotive Sector, M&M Ltd. said, “The Y400 is one of the most eagerly anticipated launches of this year. Positioned in the high-end SUV segment, the Y400 is a high-end, full sized SUV that offers luxury and exclusivity in its tasteful design, lavish interiors, thrilling performance and best in class features. We are sure that it will further enhance our SUV portfolio.”
The Y400 will be under the Mahindra brand and will be exclusively available through a separate high-end showroom within the existing ‘World of SUVs” dealerships which have been created with the objective to redefine customer experience, with regards to both sales and after sales. These outlets will be equipped with modern digital technology to provide an enhanced and immersive high-end experience for customers.
The Y400/XUV700 should put Mahindra in the Mahindra in the Big SUV league with more mature handling, Luxury Interior and Styling. This will be the next big launch for Mahindra in 2018 after the XUV500 facelift and the Mahindra Marazzo MPV.
