The S-CNG version of Maruti Suzuki India's latest Alto K10 hatchback has gone on sale for Rs. 5.95 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The VXI S-CNG trim level is the only one available for this automobile, the company's eleventh passenger vehicle to receive a CNG version. The next-generation 1.0-liter K-Series petrol engine that powers the Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 has been modified with a factory-installed CNG kit, increasing the vehicle's mileage to 33.85 km/kg. In contrast, the car's standard petrol version achieves fuel economy rates of up to 24.90 km/l.
The same 998 cc three-cylinder, dual Jet, dual VVT petrol engine, paired as standard with a 5-speed manual gearbox, powers the Alto K10 S-CNG. In CNG mode, the engine is tuned to produce 82.1 Nm of maximum torque at 3400 rpm and 56 bhp at 5300 rpm. The engine is paired with dual interdependent ECUs. The output increases to 64 bhp at 5500 rpm and 89 Nm of maximum torque at 3500 rpm in petrol mode.
