MegaCabs, a ride hailing platform and airport taxi operator, has launched its first fleet of 100 electric vehicles (EVs) in Delhi. The company aims to take the number of EV cabs to 300 by the end of this financial year.
Lauding the move of MegaCabs to go green, Tarun Arora, CCO-Non-Aero, Delhi International Airport, said, “Delhi airport is on a mission to be a net zero carbon emission facility by 2030 and the launch of MegaCabs EV fleet is a significant step in that direction. DIAL has already electrified much of its transportation services and is on schedule to transition to zero-emission vehicles in and around the airport in the next 5-6 years. We have been in conversation with all stakeholders to achieve carbon neutrality at India’s largest airport.”
With close to two decades of experience, MegaCabs has completed more than 30 million rides in India. Currently, it operates in Delhi, Bengaluru, and Goa, but has an ambitious plan to extend its services to five more major Indian airports by 2024.
Giving more insights, Kunal Lalani, Founder & Chairman of MergaCab, said: “MegaCabs pioneered radio taxi service in India and it is only fitting that we would plunge into the next big change in mobility – electrification. We have distinguished our services by our commitment to fair pricing.”
