Tata Motors has showcased its new futuristic design electric concept, Curvv. With this new electric SUV, the company is trying to target the urban dwellers who expect a shorter charge time, interactive and intuitive interfaces, and feature comfort not only in their everyday lives but also in their cars.
The complete details of the car remain unknown but it could be on the lines of the Tata Nexon EV (electric vehicle) but with a bigger design that can easily fit into the congested city roads. While the company has already confirmed that this new electric SUV will be a connected car and will be equipped with a host of smart and convenient features. This will improve the overall driving experience and will add extra safety with its advanced security features.
Tata Motors is building the Curvv on its new design language with minimalistic exterior and interior design or as they say ‘Less is More’. As showcased in the concept car the interior looks quite promising with a modern yet sharp design that we have not seen on a Tata car before, offering a new generation steering wheel.
Filling in the huge gap in the company’s portfolio between the Tata Nexon & Tata Harrier, the Curvv EV (electric vehicle) will sport a coupe like design, a car that has a sloping rear. This will be built on Tata Motor’s second-generation architecture, offering a multi-powertrain option that is expected to deliver a range of 400-500km.
On the back, Tata Motors' signature LED lamps will surround the rear screen with a horizontal light bar. The front lower bumper of the electric SUV will sport a grooved pattern that will be repeated at the rear and on the wheels’ aero blade design, giving a connected and holistic feel.
At the showcase event, while interacting with the media, Shailesh Chandra – Managing Director of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd., and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd. said “Our ongoing business turnaround is history in the making. From record sales to upping our market share game, the last fiscal has been nothing but magical for us. We not only emerged as the No. 1 SUV player with our array of products in our portfolio, we also continued to super charge our growth in the EV space with our highest ever annual EV sales going up by 353% vs FY21.”
Initially, Curvv will enter the market as an extension of the company’s evolving EV (electric vehicle) portfolio which will subsequently be followed by its ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) variant i.e.., a petrol and diesel engine later in the coming years. Although the vehicle is in its production-ready avatar, the series production of the Curvv might get a new name altogether. The SUV is expected to hit the Indian market in the year 2024.
The price of the SUV could range between Rs. 10 lakh to Rs. 12 lakh (ex-showroom)
