The brand-new Innova HyCross has been introduced by Toyota Kirloskar Motor in India. The introduction was scheduled for January 2023, but Toyota has recently revealed the MPV's costs as 2022 draws to a close. Starting at Rs. 18.30 lakh (Ex-showroom), the Toyota Innova HyCross has prices that reach Rs. 28.97 lakh (Ex-showroom) for the ZX(O) model with the Self-Charging hybrid powertrain.
A considerable upgrade over the Innova Crysta, the new Toyota Innova HyCross is supported by Toyota's modular TNGA-C: GA-C platform. The MPV is now a front-wheel drive variant because it no longer has a ladder-on-frame body and instead has a monocoque construction. This has reduced its weight by 200 kg.
There is a new 2.0-liter, four-cylinder, powerful hybrid TNGA engine of the fifth generation as well as a standard 2.0-liter petrol engine under the hood. The engines will be coupled to an electric CVT and a conventional CVT transmission, respectively. Fuel efficiency for the hybrid model will be 21.1 km/l, which is probably best in class. Along with the engine, the Innova HyCross has two electric motors as well.
During acceleration, the first motor pushes the vehicle forward using electric power, while the larger second motor supports the primary engine while simultaneously charging the battery pack through regenerative braking. In 9.5 seconds, the Innova HyCross can go from 0 to 100 kph.
