Uber flagged off its EV autorickshaw service in the town of Ayodhya under its category, Uber Auto. With the flag-off amid the development, Uber stated that it would offer convenient, affordable and sustainable mobility solutions.
Uber will also start operations of UberGo besides Uber Intercity, the developing mobility product to support all inter-city travel needs to Ayodhya from popular destinations within Uttar Pradesh. This aims to connect the temple city to various destinations, which will boost the business of the company amid rising demand for spiritual tourism, Uber stated in a release.
Prabhjeet Singh, President of Uber India and South Asia, said, “With this expansion, we are not only providing enhanced mobility options for tourists and pilgrims but also unlocking earning opportunities for many more in the region. We are committed to contributing to the city’s tourism, promoting a seamless travel experience, and fostering sustainable economic growth."
Ten years ago, the first Indian rider hailed an Uber on the streets of Bengaluru, beginning a journey that would quickly see the app become popular in the country. Since then, car, auto, motorcycle, or bus rides via the app are now available in 125 cities across India.
