3M India Partners With Team Panthera For Shell Eco-Marathon 2019

3M India has collaborated with Team Panthera. Team Panthera is from Indira Gandhi Delhi Technical University for Women and has designed and developed an Energy Efficient, Electric Battery Vehicle for the marathon. Team Panthera is one of the most sought-after design team under Mechanical Engineering Circle of Lean in India, a platform that promotes women in heavy industry, by the students of IGDTUW.

The automotive industry today is in a period of rapid change and it’s all because of innovation. With auto-electrification taking center stage, 3M believes there is a need to encourage and motivate scientific young minds to enter different streams in industry.

Speaking about 3M’s commitment to accelerating the inclusion and advancement of women in their areas of innovation, Ms. Debarati Sen, Managing Director 3M India Region (India & Sri Lanka), said, “Team Panthera is a group of enthusiastic women mechanical engineers who have challenged stereotypes.  Auto-electrification is a key focus area for 3M, aimed at enabling the transformation of mobility in the future, and this team of women working on cutting edge technologies paves the way for future generations. Our association with Team Panthera is also a testimony to 3M’s commitment to diversity to fuel excellence. We congratulate the team and hope their passion, drive, and achievements motivate more women to shatter many glass ceilings.”

Kirti, Captain of Team Panthera said, “We are glad to be back this year at the Shell Eco-Marathon and are proud to announce 3M India as our title sponsor. For our vehicle IRIS 3.0, we are aiming for a goal of 300 kms on a full charge of our 48V battery. Our team has worked closely on the concept, design and creation of the vehicle. Building a vehicle from scratch was daunting at the same time an exciting challenge for our team. Being the winners of Perseverance and Spirit of the Event Award of Shell Eco-Marathon 2017, we are back with a higher aim and a better car this year.”
