JLR India Doubles Sales In Two Years; Sells Record 6,183 Units In FY25

JLR has reported its highest-ever annual sales in its 17-year operations in the country. The company saw a record 6,183 retail sales in FY25, representing 40 per cent year-on-year growth, while wholesale volumes reached 6,266 units, up 39 per cent year-on-year. JLR India has witnessed a strong growth trajectory with annual retail sales more than doubling in the last two years. The company recorded its highest ever quarterly retail and wholesale in Q4 FY25 at 1,793 and 1,710 units respectively, with growth of 110 per cent and 118 per cent vs the same quarter in the prior year.
The sustained demand for its entire product range throughout the year has been instrumental in driving this consistent growth and setting new sales records. In FY25, Defender was the highest selling model with growth of 90 per cent, followed by locally manufactured Range Rover and Range Rover Sport at 72 per cent and 42 per cent respectively.
With a strong performance in FY25, JLR India has successfully established its Range Rover and Defender brands as one of the most desirable luxury SUVs for India's discerning clientele. The company's House of Brands strategy has resonated strongly with high-end consumers, solidifying its position further in the high-net-worth segment.
Commenting on the company's performance, Rajan Amba, Managing Director of JLR India, said, “JLR India has outpaced the luxury car industry with retail and wholesale growth of around 40 per cent in the current year on the back of 81 per cent year-on-year growth in FY24. Our locally manufactured Range Rover and Range Rover Sport have been a key driver of this growth, while Defender continues to sustain its leadership position in its category. The constant support from our retail partners and the commitment of JLR teams in India and the UK have been instrumental in driving this growth story.”
FY25 was a landmark year for the company, driven by groundbreaking products and unwavering brand loyalty. The introduction of the Defender OCTA in India, the toughest, most powerful and most capable Defender ever, further bolstered the portfolio, generating widespread acclaim and surging demand. The recently launched Range Rover SV Ranthambore Edition, the first ever limited edition crafted for India, sold out within a week, demonstrating the brand's growing popularity in the country and added to the company’s success.
Earlier this year, Range Rover also announced the local manufacturing of Range Rover and Range Rover Sport, which has received an unprecedented response.
