Kia has recalled 44,174 units of Carens MPV due to a probable airbag control unit defect. A free software update will fix the issue.
In the automotive industry, recalls are the standard. These are typically done to fix manufacturing flaws that could cause a certain automotive component to function incorrectly. In the most recent wave of recalls, Kia has requested Carens be returned due to a potential ACU issue (Airbag Control Unit).
Kia has recalled Carens, a total of 44,174 units. The defective airbag control unit is the cause of this recall (ACU). The Korean automaker claims that a software upgrade, which will be provided without charge, will probably fix the issue. The automaker may decide to replace the component directly if the problem continues. The recall will be individually disclosed to the owners of the affected automobiles. Customers can also schedule an appointment at their convenience, and the problem will be thoroughly investigated and fixed.
The ACU is an extremely important part of the airbag system. By receiving data from crash sensors, analysing the situation, and deciding when to deploy airbags, the unit serves as the brain of the airbag system. Therefore, a defect in the ACU poses a risk to the consumers' safety, which is why there is a widespread recall.
This is not the first time an automaker has had to recall a car due to a suspected airbag problem. Due to an issue with the airbag control unit (ACU), Maruti Suzuki previously recalled 166 Dzire Tour S vehicles and offered to replace them for no cost.
Priced from Rs. 9.60 lakhs to Rs. 17.70 lakhs (ex-showroom), Kia Carens is available in India. The Carens is available from Kia in a total of 19 versions and 6/7 seater layouts.
