With a YoY sales rise of 135.1 percent, Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) reported a cumulative domestic tally of 1,48,380 units in the month of September 2022 as opposed to 63,111 units during a similar period in 2021. The significant increase in sales volumes is the result of both the industry's strong recovery and the several new products the brand introduced this CY. The country's largest automaker debuted a number of new models this year, including the extensively upgraded Baleno, the new generation Alto K10, the new generation Brezza, the all-new Grand Vitara, the updated Ertiga and XL6, etc. Maruti Suzuki reported an MoM rise of 10.6 percent in August 2022, when 1,34,166 units were sold.
In contrast to last month, when Maruti Suzuki's market share was 34 percent, this month it reached 41.8 percent. It goes without saying that MSIL has been the main contributor. In September 2022, a total of 3,54,948 units were sold in India as opposed to 1,85,636 units during the same time the previous year.
Recently introduced, the Grand Vitara midsize SUV has a price range of Rs. 10.45 lakh to Rs. 19.65 lakh (ex-showroom). Over 57,000 reservations have already been recorded for the incredibly promising five-seater, which competes against the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, MG Astor, VW Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, and others. It is supported by the Global C platform and is powered by a 1.5-liter four-cylinder mild-hybrid engine that was developed in-house and a 1.5-liter three-cylinder Atkinson cycle engine that was sourced from Toyota. Together with an electric motor and a battery, they form a powerful hybrid system with a claimed fuel efficiency of 27.97 km/l.
