BMW has introduced the XM with a starting price of Rs 2.60 crore (ex-showroom), with deliveries starting in May 2023. It's interesting to note that the iconic M1 was replaced by the first M original model forty years ago.
The BMW XM is mechanically propelled by a 4.4-liter V8 engine with an electric motor that generates 653 horsepower and 800 Nm of torque. All four wheels are driven by this engine with an eight-speed M Steptronic transmission. The XM has a top speed of 270kmph and can sprint from 0 to 100kmph in 4.3 seconds. The 25.7kWh battery has a driving range of 82–88km and can be charged with a 7.4kW AC fast charger. The car can reach speeds of up to 140 kph when it is in EV mode.
The BMW XM features an eye-catching, geometric design language with a distinctive "gold-on-green" finish. Sharp character lines all around, huge black ORVMs, and a pair of 23-inch aero wheels draw attention to the side profile. The car also has a quad-exhaust arrangement in the back and front and rear M-specific diffusers.
The XM's interior features a four-seat configuration, plenty of carbon fibre, and quilted leather upholstery. A 3D headliner with 100 different LEDs and a curved display will also be used to emphasise the dashboard. Head-up display, four-zone climate control, and a 1,500W Bowers & Wilkins sound system are among the features.
