Despite Covid-Induced Slowdown, Dassault Systèmes Bets Big On Indian Ops

Dassault Systèmes, which provides 3D Design and engineering software, is leveraging immensely on the latent potentialities that exist in the Indian market despite the sagging economy. The French technology solutions provider, which had always been harping on digital transformation in the manufacturing ecosystem across various industries, reckons that the pace of adoption of its solutions will be further accelerated with the challenges that have been generated by Covid. The Vélizy-Villacoublay-based firm is also engaging closely with some of the crème de la crème universities in India in order to harness talent that can create groundbreaking solutions for the domestic as well as global markets.

During ‘'3DEXPERIENCE Forum India 2020'', Bernard Charlès, Vice chairman of the Board & Chief Executive Officer, Dassault maintained, “India by itself is a gigantic market with gigantic needs and also (has) a gigantic potential to reveal with the talents, new possibilities, whether it's transportation, energy and infrastructure (sectors of the economy). We are investing a lot here locally on our workers, partners, clients and education because we believe that it’s a game changer. India is an important territory for us because we already know we have a lot of new resources to offer.”

“There was a time when there was a lot of low cost, high quality production was (prevalent) in China. But this is changing (as) Vietnam, Indonesia, India, (etc.), are becoming the investment destinations for global companies in Asia. We have already seen incredible dynamics with Indian universities to adopt the new digital way to create curriculum to train the new generation and make them agile,” added Charlès, while also affirming that a number of Indian start-ups are creating new solutions in various sectors that are simplifying the lives of people.

It may be recalled that Dassault Systèmes had rolled out a digital product innovation platform-the 3DEXPERIENCE platform in 2012 in global markets and is available on premise and on cloud for usage by large enterprises, mid-size companies, and startups across 11 industry sectors. The platform functions as both a system of operations (to run a business) and a business model (to transform a business).

Dassault Systèmes focuses on three sectors globally - manufacturing, infrastructure and life sciences - with workforce initiatives playing an important role in getting professionals ready in these domains.   Shedding some further light on the potentialities, Charlès maintained, “We were planning about 2020 fiscal year growing at 25% to 27%, we have divided this growth by more than two and we are still growing. It’s clear that the focus has evolved in every sector of the 11 industry we serve. We are doing everything to make sure that our partners stay in business and we're making sure that our clients can use and work from anywhere, using our cloud services on connected world. So, if people cannot go back to the office they can work and design remote manufacturing process. We are not just an email system or a document system, where we manipulate (but) are much more complex data and did extremely well even in India. So, it shows that it's possible on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.”
