Hyundai India Achieves A Production Milestone, Rolls Out Its 10 Millionth Car

Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL), achieves a production milestone with the fastest rollout of 10 million cars from its state-of-art manufacturing facility in India near Chennai, Tamil Nadu. Hyundai ALCAZAR became the 10 millionth car to roll out of the production line at HMIL’s plant in Sriperumbudur. Thiru. M.K.Stalin, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu signed on the car bonnet to mark the momentous occasion.

Hyundai began operations of its manufacturing facility in September 1998 with the commissioning of Hyundai’s first integrated car manufacturing plant outside Korea.

With an installed capacity of producing 7.5 lakh units annually, Hyundai has manufactured over 9 million cars at this facility. The plants also make use of smart manufacturing with Zero wastage 100 % water recirculation facility using recirculated water and rainwater harvesting systems, deployment of Industry 4.0 with over 650 4th Generation robots and utilization of AI in robotics automation for car manufacturing.

Over the last 25 years, from the Santro to the latest Hyundai Alcazar, to making common rail direct injection diesel motors, Hyundai became a household name in India by defining mobility excellence across segments and achieved the highest ever market share of 24 % in May 2021.

The Company has been one of India’s leading exporters of cars, exporting 1,04,342 units of passenger vehicles from India between April 2020 and March 2021. With over 2 lakh units of CRETA and VENUE having shipped to overseas markets, including Mexico, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Nepal and Chile. The new i20 is being exported to all key markets across Africa and Latin American region. HMI has also commenced exports to Nepal through railways from Walajabad Railway Hub near Irungattukottai near Chennai.
