KIA Seltos: Things You Need To Know

The most anticipated car of the 2018 Auto Expo is set to launch on 20th June in Delhi. The name Seltos has been derived from Greek Mythology and the compact SUV was spied testing in India numerous times ahead of its launch. 

1. Exterior

The car will likely sit on big 18inch wheels with Kumho tires in 225/45 sections with dual tone alloys seen on the SP signature concept revealed at the Seoul Motor Show. It gets an aggressive tiger nose grill with LED headlamps and sports a contrasting roof with chrome plated A-pillar.

2. Interior

Kia officially released the interior sketches and it looks like a premium looking dash with a mock wood garnish at the top and the signature 3 spoke steering wheel from KIA with an aluminum garnish at the bottom spoke. 

The speedometer and tachometer appear to be analog with a central MID screen in between. From the sketch, it also appears to have a large infotainment screen at the center. From the temperature control buttons, it appears to have dual-zone climate control and buttons along with the gear lever.

3. Engine

The Seltos will be offered in a 1.5-liter diesel and petrol engines at launch mated to automatic and manual gearboxes along with a sportier version in the works which will boast a 1.4-liter 140hp engine with a 7-speed DCT and paddle shifters.  A leaked sketch also indicated that the SUV might come with off-road capability and a drive selector mode for the same. It might also come with a 4WD and a turbo engine.

4. Other Features

With the upcoming connected cars like Hyundai Venue and MG Hector, the Seltos will also see features like controlling temp and lock/unlock your car from your smartphone. The car will also boast a 10.25-inch touchscreen, ambient lighting, push-button start and even a heads-up display in the top spec variant.

5. Price

The Seltos is likely to be priced from Rs 11-16 Lakh Ex-Showroom Delhi making its way to the mid-size SUV segment competing with the likes of Hyundai Creta, Nissan Kicks, Renault Captur and lower variants of Jeep Compass and MG Hector.

It will be exciting to see some action in the mid-size SUV segment which has been dominated by the Creta since its inception.
