Mahindra To Bring Affordable 1.5-Litre Engine Thar Soon

Mahindra & Mahindra is planning to come up with a more affordable Thar SUV variant which will have a 1.5-litre diesel engine and 2WD. The launch can be done in January 2023. Thar’s second generation was launched on 2 October 2022.

The current off-roader car is offered with a 2.0-litre mStallion engine which can produce power of 150 bhp and a peak torque of 329 Nm and a 2.2-litre mHawk engine which can produce power of 130 bhp and a peak torque of 300 Nm. All variants have the standard 4WD system and both engines have 6-speed MT and AT gear options.

The upcoming Thar will have a 1.5-litre diesel engine having the capacity to produce power of 121 bhp and a peak torque of 300 Nm with a 2 WD system. 

Mahindra is also planning to bring Thar's five-door version and Maruti Suzuki is planning to showcase their five-door Jimny at the Auto Expo 2023.
